This is Whiskers. She belongs to my very good friend Sandy, whom I visited back in June during the IAPS convention. She came and sat on my knee, and I couldn’t resist snapping a photo with hopes of painting her.

Velour is often a very good choice for animals, as it helps to communicate the texture of the fur. It’s definitely a surface you need to practice on top learn how to maximize its benefits.
There are those who say getting details is difficult on Velour, but I find, deleting on the level of detail you want, it’s definitely possible.
One thing I’ve recently learned is that pushing the pastel into the nap of the paper helps prevent shedding of the pastel.
