Biggest Pastel Party on the Planet
Oh yeah! It’s time, I’m so excited!
Tomorrow, God willing, I will get in the car with my friend and fellow pastellist and head out to the Biggest Pastel Party on the Planet! The International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS) meets every other year (unless of course there’s a pandemic) in Albuquerque, NM. Pastellists from all over the world attend the convention, where we all are free to talk ALL THE JARGON, learn from each other, see some of the most awesome pastel art in the universe, and generally party the week away.
Three days up and three days back with the party in between. Rita Kirkman and I plan to take our time and get a LOT of reference photos for our future paintings.
That’s the first party.
Art Adoption Event
The second party is one I’m hosting myself. We will be celebrating the fact that there are entirely too many art pieces that need adoption here in my studio. The shelter is full! I love them all, but they need good homes. Each one is specially made for someone. I don’t know who that is, but what if it’s you??? Wouldn’t you want to know? They are beautiful and will be a loyal friend to you forever.
And listen, I want to say this up front: even if you’re not ready to adopt a piece of my art, your presence and moral support at my party will be so appreciated and only ramp up the fun!
Here’s how to join the party:
When: July 9, throughout the day.
Where: Live on my Youtube Channel
How: either subscribe to my website news or like my facebook page. Links to all the sessions will be provided there.
So what is actually going to happen? Well, bright and early Saturday the 9th, I will go LIVE so we can have morning coffee together virtually. I’ll share about the activities for the rest of the day and clue you in on some exciting chances to participate. We’ll chat about life, the universe and everything.
Later that morning, you can tune in to watch me paint a painting. I will also do a separate demo making something from clay (what do you want to see me make? Keep in mind that I don’t have a wheel. Hand building is not as sexy as wheel throwing, but wait until you see what I can do with a clay coil!)
Tea Party
In the afternoon I will host a Magical Freaking Unicorn Afternoon Tea . I’m going to dress up (you can, too, if you like!), and we will get on Zoom together and go live on my channel. We’ll chat, and you can ask questions about art, life, the universe, and everything. Everyone who is subscribed to my website news or like my facebook page will get the Zoom link to join!

And then… AND then…AND THEN….During the evening, about the time your little Johnny goes to bed, the Party will REALLY start. The adoption event will kick off with some games. And there will be FREE STUFF to win.
I can’t waive the adoption fee on all the art, because even unicorns have to eat something besides vitrified clay and crunchy pastels, so as soon as I’ve told you how you can get some free stuff….
