What is your favorite flower?

I love flowers of all kinds. Before I ever moved to bluebonnet country, I visited frequently and fell in love with this member of the lupine family. Thanks to Lady Bird Johnson, these gorgeous blue spikes grow in vast patches throughout central Texas.

They aren’t my most favorite flower: that will always be daisies. Of course, almost as soon as I began to enjoy painting I wanted to try to render these lovelies with pastel on paper. But I hesitated: I wanted to do it right.

I’m happy to present a piece that really feels to me the way bluebonnets make me feel.
