Monthly–or Not? Additions to Art Show

August Arty Party–Tomorrow, 8.13.22!

Good morning! It’s very very early on Friday, August 12. This post needs to get out in the email to you soon so you can prepare for the Arty Party day tomorrow…I’m so excited that more of you are planning to come party with us!

I’m also up early because these bisqued pieces will go into the glaze kiln today so that I can add them to the show tomorrow night! What glazes did I pick? Will the combinations be pleasing? It’s always exciting to open the kiln!

Monthly or Not–What is Margin?

I had hoped to be able to host these Arty Parties once a month. This week has shown me that I might be better off doing them every 6 weeks. Granted, there have been unanticipated issues to deal with this week: I finally caught the illness-that-shall-not-be-named, for instance (I feel fine, btw–but it did make me sleepy, so I was unable to keep the schedule I had set for myself). But I’ve learned over the years that it’s absolutely vital to keep margin in my life!

Margin is room for monkey wrenches. It’s room for the unexpected, time for turmoil, extra minutes for madness in the world. It never turns out well to over schedule myself. If you have margin planned into your life, dealing with the unexpected is much less stressful. And I have to admit that THIS week has been stressful at least in part because I didn’t plan time to have the-illness-that-shall-not-be-named, nor several other issues that surfaced.

Consider scheduling in some margin in your life.

All that to say, I’ve reconsidered whether monthly parties are going to work for all of us, and I’ve decided to try a 6-week schedule for the rest of the year. And look: it works out perfectly! We will have TWO more parties in 2022. One at the beginning of October and one in mid-November. PERFECT for shopping for fall and the holiday season! More details as those become available.

Meanwhile, let’s Luau!

Our Arty Party this month is Island Themed! It would be so much fun if those of you attending the Afternoon Tea Party did something with this: either a costume item, or a food, or a story–something simple (or, you know, if you want, go all out!). I just think it would be fun. I will definitely be dressed up!

Remember that if you want to attend the Tea Party, you MUST be registered for the Magic News or a member of the Facebook sale group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/estherljonessalepage ).

I’ll be adding show items to the sale group today so that you can get a preview of what will be available.

The Tea Party is by Zoom, and is exclusive to the members.

EVERY THING ELSE IS public! You are invited and encouraged to invite others. Heck, make it a girl’s night with a friend, or an evening with your spouse. Keep in mind that if you make the effort to attend the live, I make the effort to make it worth your while. I offer discounted prices on all the art during these lives…you will not find them cheaper on any of the platforms where they are available. It really means a lot to me that you support me by giving me your time!

Here are the links to the public events–all times are Central Time:

Morning Coffee 8:30 am: we meet and chat for a few minutes to kick off the day.

Painting Demo 10:00 am: I paint and chat, explaining my process.

Clay Demo 11:30 am: I create an item in clay and chat.
